At a rainy Vics green last night, Trevor Rodgers won 21-o8 against Albany to confirm his position at the top of the averages but failed to collect the sweep bonus as he didn’t enter!!! Billy Atkinson 21-09 therefore wins an unexpected bonus. With Robby Franklin, Peter Dodd and Colin Saville all with comfortable wins, The Vics ran out 63 shots ahead to take to Albany for next Friday’s return. Captain Ian Sherbrooke, Mally Johnson, George Morgan, Neil Sherbrooke and Mike Skipworth all won with there being only two losing cards on the night.
At a bitterly cold Harrison Park last night, Vics completed a 45 shot victory to remain in the title hunt in the Wallasey 1st division. Anthony Thompson, Dave Gilmore and Billy Atkinson all had comfortable wins, but Mersey Merit finalist Rob Fitzpatrick (21-05) and Isle of Man champion Matty Gilmore (21-08) set the Vics on the way with super displays in the 1st four. Karl Sherbrooke, Bernie Owen,Ian Sherbrooke and Robby Franklin were the other victors with Vics only having 3 losers on the night.

Len Sherbrookes “C” team did it again yesterday with an excellent away win at Greasby “B”. C.K.Pau led the way with an excellent 21-03 with Stan Evans 21-04 also starring. Eric Neal 21-07 was another single figure winner and with wins for John Dodd, Ernie Peers and Bill Spraggett, the Vics ran out comfortable winners by 38 shots to take them joint top of the table.
The afternoon “B” team had an excellent 54 shot win against a strong Gladstone side yesterday with Don Ibbotson (21-05) and Bill Powell (21-10) leading the way. Chris Williams, back from injury, defeated the much travelled Julian Fullerton(21-20)and Derek Thomas as stand in skipper won 21-16 to set up an interesting return game next Wednesday.
Despite a tremendous performance from captain Brian Ibbotson (21-11) the “A” team went down by 39 shots away to league champions Harrison Park “A”. George Morgan, Elwyn Williams and Mally Johnson all produced winning performances but with six losers, The Vics have a hard job to win the aggregate point next week.
Karl Sherbrooke stormed past Ernie Gartland (21-07) last night, to continue his run of single figure victories and set The Vics up for a close win against Harrison Park and a semi final slot in the Sansom Cup. Robby Franklin, Trevor Rodgers and Bernie Owen all had comfortable wins And with (Fast) Eddie Clayburn securing his first Birkenhead Evening win and close victories for Mally Johnson and Captain Ian Sherbrooke, Billy Atkinson secured victory for the Vics with his win over Rick Keeley. After last years dissapointing cup performances by the Birkenhead Evening League side this was a welcome win for the team.

A clean sweep of twelve winners took The Vics into the Harold Jones Cup semi final last night. Playing against Quarry Vikings at Marine Park , The Vics ran out winners by 131 shots. Sacred Heart provide the opposition in the semi final.
Congratulations to Billy Atkinson on reaching the Birkenhead News Cup Final last Saturday night. After beating James Whalley in the last eight and Dave Hulmeston (21-05) on his own green, Bill just missed out in the final against Tommy Bentley 13-21.
