Ladies to be able to play in Wirral Crown Green Bowling Association competitions.

Filed under: A1 Home Page — admin @ 04:24 pm

A surprise outcome at last nights Wirral Crown Green Bowling Association A.G.M. was the acceptance of the proposal to delete “male” from the title of Wirral Competitions. After lengthy discussions and a defeat for an amendment proposed by Tixall Bowling Club the original proposal was accepted. This now means that ladies can play for affiliated clubs in future Wirral Crown Green Competitions. It is hoped that this will enable clubs to be able to increase their membership and not give us a repeat of last nights A.G.M. where 27 Club, Vanser Royal and Queens Park resigned their membership through lack of members at the respective clubs. A proposal from Heswall RBL that the date of individual resignations be brought forward to November 30th was rejected.
The Wallasey Association A.G.M. is on Wednesday 1st December at Manor Road Conservative Club at 7-30pm.

Annual General Meeting

Filed under: A1 Home Page — admin @ 09:34 pm

Last night’s Annual General Meeting was attended by 33 members and a new Captain of the Afternoon “B” team was elected. Don Ibbotson will take over from Stan Ridgway who has stood down after 8 years as Captain. The Officers in situ were all re-elected unanimously and the new Tournament Committee consists of Lawrie Blackburn, Trevor Rodgers and Bill Spraggett. A new membership category was formed entitled “Associate Membership”, these members would not be able to play in league or cup matches but would be able to enter Club Competitions and be eligible for the Club Outing in June. A new rule regarding team selection was passed whereby members could not put themselves unavailable for a higher team and then play for a lower team on the same day. Club subscriptions are to increase to a combined total of £16-00 (green fee + subcription) per member, an increase of £2-00p and match fees will increase from 20p to 30p per match. The Treasurer anticipates this will raise approximately £235 extra next season to enable us to break even on the years costings. A special presentation was made to Andy Fergus in recognition of his services to the club over the past seasons. The Vics Wallasey League side is to represent the Wallasey Mens Crown Green Bowling Association in next seasons British Parks Team Knockout Tournament. Next years Club Outing will again be at The Cheshire View in Christleton.
