Vics say No to 2nd Wallasey side.

Filed under: A1 Home Page — admin @ 06:36 pm

Unfortunately the Vics are unable to raise sufficient numbers to enter a second team in the Wallasey Association. After enquiries from some Lady bowlers to join the club and the subsequent enquiries made of our membership, the results show that we would have to go over our current membership of 60 playing members to guarantee a second side. Even with 60 bowlers we can only get confirmation of 19 existing members to play every week in the Wallasey League. We reckon that we would have to increase our membership by another eight to ten players to run a second team without the problems of “doubling up” etc. With the limit of 60 members seeming to be more of an issue than the problem of Lady bowlers we have decided to address this limit at the next A.G.M. as well as the acceptance of Lady members.

Will we have Lady Members at the Vics????????

Filed under: A1 Home Page — admin @ 12:17 am

Following our committee meeting on Tuesday 4th January one question needs to be resolved by the membership. After both the Wirral and Wallasey associations opted to accept Lady bowlers into their competitions, the question of whether we have Lady bowlers in our Club has arisen. The situation has been brought to a head after enquiries from 3 Lady bowlers to join the Club. The committee felt that, although they agreed that there would not be a problem with Lady members, it was only right and proper that the membership should be allowed to have their say on the matter. To this end I will be outlining a question in our January letter to members re next seasons subscriptions. There will be a box to tick if you want or do not want Lady bowlers in our club. If the resulting decision is too close to call an extraordinary meeting will be called to enable members to debate the issue. This years outing will again be at Christleton and the date will be Sunday June 26th.
The starred players for the afternoon “A” team next season are W.Atkinson, E.Clayburn,R.Franklin, M.Johnson, G.Morgan, B.Owen, R.Peake, E.Williams with the 2 extra players for cup games being A.Strattan and P.Walker.
The starred players for the afternoon “B” team are D.Ibbotson, L.Blackburn, I.Cameron, B.Ibbotson, K.Etches, H.Preston,S.Ridgway, D.Thomas with the 2 extra players for cup games being A.Ryding and P.Lomax.
