Vics “B” prove much too powerful for Harrison Park in 77 shot win.

Filed under: A1 Home Page — admin @ 07:34 pm

The Vics afternoon “B” team completely overpowered Harrison Park “C” at West Kirby on Wednesday, with an easy 77 shot victory. Derek Thomas is still rueing the points dropped at Harrison Park last week, when the Vics should really have won the away tie. Don Ibbotson, shooting to the top of the averages and Ian Cameron, showing much better form than of late, both had excellent 21-08 wins. Ernie Peers had a comfortable afternoon in winning 21-09 and both Brian Ibbotson and Dave Bosworth came in with good 21-10 winning cards. C.K.Pau, still struggling with a back injury, had a fine 21-12 win and Harry Preston won 21-15. Paul Lomax considered himself fortunate to come in winning 21-16 and Skipper Derek Thomas had a much tougher game, finally coming out on top 21-19. Derek must get his side to perform just a little bit better in away games if the team is to seriously challenge at the top end of the table but this was the third aggregate point gained out of three and the home form is seriously impressive.

Unlucky 13 as Vics “A” team lose away again.

The Vics Afternoon “A” team suffered another away defeat this afternoon against a Bromborough Pool side gaining their first points of the season. The Vics went down by 13 shots on a bright but cool afternoon on possibly the quickest green we have used this season. With Robby Franklin again winning to single figures, 21-07 and Eddie Clayburn completing his 6th consecutive league win, posting a 21-17 winning card to be the Vics only undefeated player in this league so far, the Vics seemed on course for a good day away from home. Unfortunately with only 2 more winners, Dick Peake producing his best result to date in a blistering 21-06 win and Peter Dodd actually bowling with a little bit of confidence at last, winning 21-14, the Vics pulled up short at the end of the day by 13 shots. The extra point gained was only a small consolation for Skipper Billy Atkinson in a match the Vics should have been capable of winning.
