Last Thursday’s A.G.M. produced a new President, Vice Chairman and Birkenhead League Team Captain for the Vics. With Syd Dutton deciding to call it a day as President, former Vice Chairman, Dave Bosworth was unanimously elected as the new Club President. Dave promised to do his best as usual for the Club but could not guarantee playing into his nineties as Syd has done with distinction. Lawrie Blackburn was unanimously elected to take over from Dave as Vice Chairman as well as Chairing the Tournament Committee. After the unusual occurance of 2 players being nominated for the position as Captain of the Vics Birkenhead League team, a vote was taken by the members present and Ian Sherbrooke was elected as Captain for next season as opposed to this season’s incumbant, Trevor Rodgers. A relatively quiet A.G.M. produced backing for all the proposals put forward by the Wallasey Crown Green Bowling Association for their A.G.M. on Wednesday 29th November. The Vics members also decided that we would support 2 proposals put forward by the Albany Bowling Club for the Birkenhead League A.G.M. on Tuesday December 5th regarding new rules. These proposals: not more than one player to play in 2 Club Teams on the same evening and in the event of Clubs having 2 teams in the same Division, no player shall be allowed to play for both teams on the same day. Robby Franklin, having won our Afternoon “A” team averages also finished joint top of the League averages with Geoff Dewhurst from Heswall RBL.
